EBU Operations Opts For Profile Digital Video Platforms For Sydney Sports Highlights

LAS VEGAS (National Association of Broadcasters Convention), April 10, 2000 — EBU Sports Operations has chosen the Grass Valley Group's Profile^® digital video platform for its highlights packaging of sports events in Sydney this summer. Feeds from the various venues will be routed via five incoming lines to EBU's editing facilities where seven "actiV" controllers from UK-based Hi Tech Systems will be used to mark the clips to be used for subsequent editing.

All materials will be ingested to the six Profile platforms, available to all users via a switch-based Fibre Channel local area network. Highlights editing will be performed using four Panasonic AG960 edit controllers, interfacing to the Profile units via BVW protocol. Oxtel EasyKeys will be used to perform transitions. The final edited packages will then be distributed to a total of approximately 30-35 EBU broadcasters via satellite link from Sydney and distributed to their home countries via the Eurovision network. The Grass Valley Group will be providing full on-site support during the games.
