Grass Valley Group To Roll Mobile Production Solution Into New Trio Video Truck
Midwest's Mobile TV Production Leader Selects Kalypso Video Production Center
LAS VEGAS (National Association of Broadcasters
Convention), April 10, 2000 To meet the fast-paced and complex demands of network, cable, and corporate broadcast clients, Chicago-based Trio Video, the leading mobile television production company in the Midwest, will install a Grass Valley Kalypso Video Production Center in the company's newest mobile teleproduction truck.
Mobile teleproduction environments, which often require different configurations and multiple feeds, are extremely demanding, but the Kalypso Video Production Center is a natural fit. Its clean-feed system provides the ability to create customized production using any combination of backgrounds and keys, and its 80 inputsvideo and/or keyreduce the need for external routing or sub switching in most applications.
"When we checked out what the Grass Valley Group had to offer, we were impressed with the new Kalypso system," said Jack Walsh, partner at Trio Video. "With shows getting bigger and more complicated every day, we need more functionality. We believe the Kalypso will be able to keep up with the intensive requirements of our demanding broadcasts."
Roscor Corporation, which supplies equipment for Trio Video, also contributed to the decision to go with Grass Valley Group and the Kalypso. "Roscor's creed is to provide next-generation technologies for the creation and delivery of electronic media. So even with technology changing so rapidly, we have to be able to keep up," said Steve Kozola, district sales manager, Roscor Corporation. "We rely on the Grass Valley Group to stay on top of the latest technological developments so our customers can receive the functionality they expect us to deliver."
As the hub of a teleproduction environment, the Kalypso Video Production Center family combines industry-leading switching and powerful mix/effects (M/E) capabilities with an open, networked architecture that offers a precedent-setting degree of operational integration. With 80 inputs (video or key), it offers fingertip control of a number of previously off-board functions to streamline workflow, from greater M/E capabilities to a programmable clean-feed system, all from a familiar Grass Valley control panel interface.
"As content creators require more production value, more control, and more new-revenue opportunities from the same core systems, the Kalypso Video Production Center offers the most advanced solution on the market, "said Tim Thorsteinson, president and chief operating officer of the Grass Valley Group. "We're grateful to Trio Video for helping to validate the strength of our solution in mobile production applications."
