New York Stock Exchange Expands Use Of Grass
Valley Group's Wideband Routing System
Nevada City, Calif., June 11, 2001
The Grass Valley Group announced today that the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
has expanded the use of the digital media leader's next-generation routing
technologies. The NYSE has deployed a new 256X256 Grass Valley 7500 WB
wideband routing frame to handle the growing number of feeds it provides to
media organizations worldwideand to provide a well-defined, scalable
path for future growth.
System integrator Innovative Digital Design (IDD) of Flanders, N.J.
performed the NYSE installation.
Representing more than 3,000 companies and total global market
capitalization of $18 trillion, the NYSE is one of the largest financial
marketplaces in the world. It is also one of the most closely watched:
every day, the NYSE fields a variety of media requests for live shots of
its trading floor and packaged feeds of its opening and closing
ceremonies.
To help deliver these kinds of feeds efficiently, the Grass Valley
Group's Series 7500 routing systems offer guaranteed, non-blocking,
deterministic switching of standard- and high-definition (SD and HD)
signals as well as many other data typesand many ways to future
proof a facility's investments. The Series 7500 WB system, for example,
can switch any and all digital formatsfrom 10 Mb/s to 1.5
Gb/sand offers incredible scalability. And its integration with
Grass Valley Group's Profile® line of digital video
platforms as well as Grass Valley switchers and modular
linesincluding support for Simple Network Management Protocol
(SNMP) protocol-based remote monitoringleads the industry.
The Series 7500 WB system also offers affordable expansion. To route
only SD signals, users can pair the system's frame with SD-only Grass
Valley modules and save two-thirds the cost of a full-bandwidth routing
solution. Expanding to high-definition signals requires only the plugging
in of new input and output modules.
The NYSE's new 7500 WB frame joins a host of other Grass Valley Group
equipment, including Profile digital video platforms, a Grass Valley 4000
switcher, Grass Valley modular products, and Krystal digital video
effects technology.
"High-quality content providers such as the New York Stock Exchange
are demanding media infrastructures flexible enough to anticipate new
uses, new markets, and new technologies," said Tim Thorsteinson, CEO of
the Grass Valley Group. "We're excited to watch the 7500 WB become the
signal-management backbone for content creators and distributors
worldwide."
