Grass Valley Group Announces Major Order From Arab State Broadcasting Union
The ASBU, a union for all Arab States Broadcasting, will take delivery of one Grass Valley Profile® XP Media Platform system, a NewsEdit™ nonlinear editing system, compact Concerto™ Series routing matrix and other distribution equipment.
"This project constitutes a big step forwards towards enhancing the exchange of news, radio and television programmes within the ASBU member organisations," said the ASBU Technical Committee Chairman Dr Riyad Najm.
The ASBU leases four Satellite channels on Arab Sat 2B - one dedicated for news and the other for programme and sports contribution feeds. Its Exchange Centre in Algiers receives three pre-determined daily news feeds via satellite from numerous Arab television stations, and re-transmits them by hot switching to all its members including international networks, news agencies and sister unions.
The Grass Valley Digital News Production solution will allow the ASBU to ingest all satellite feeds using the Profile XP Media Platform system. It will have two independent means of accessing and editing programme material either by using the simple cuts-only editing facility of the Profile Tool Box software or by using the powerful capabilities of the NewsEdit nonlinear editing system. Both products will be networked via a Fibre Channel and Ethernet network.
All video and audio signals will be routed as SDI and stereo analogue through the compact Grass Valley Concerto Series routing matrix as well as additional Grass Valley modular distribution and conversion equipment.
This turnkey project, complete with a DVCPRO50 VTR machine, Sync Pulse Generator, clock system and a comprehensive monitoring and talkback system will be managed and installed by AVC Alwaseet with full Grass Valley support.
